Gresham got a lot from the injury

Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham wish get a piece of NFL jersey and returned for what he hoped would be a national title run.

That dream ended before the 2009 season even started. Gresham had season-ending surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee in September. His knee locked up on him during a drill at practice and doctors decided it was in his best interest to undergo surgery. “I was just running a route,” he said. “No helmet or anything. Freak accident I guess.” Despite the hardship, Gresham is the top-ranked tight end in this year’s draft and he said he has no regrets about not leaving school early. The year away from football gave him a perspective he might not have otherwise found.

“I’ve been yanked and tugged on and not one doctor has said anything bad about it, so the knee is great,” he said. “I’m good to go.”
